China’s heavy-duty punching line reaches top-grade level
A fully-automated punching line independently developed by a Chinese mechanized tool company was approved by a national appraisal panel on Wednesday in Yantai, marking the nation’s mechanized tool developing and producing ability has reached top-grade international level. Around 50 mechanized tool experts from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Department of Science and Technology, China Machinery Industry Federation and its industrial counterparts gathered for an inspection of the large-scale, high-efficiency, fully-automated punching line in Yantai. The achievement shows China’s heavy-duty equipment production strength. It is on a par with overseas top machine toll companies, said Yu Chengting, honorary chairman of China Machine Tool Association and head of the appraisal panel. Developed by Jinan-based JIER Machine Tool Group Co Ltd, the punching line uses 11 core technologies. Several technologies used for the punching line are breakthroughs in the domestic automation field, putting an end to the monopoly of overseas companies in the Chinese market, said Zhang Zhigang, chairman of JIER. The line is able to draw 15 auto body panels per minute, representing the nation’s highest performance level in the field, according to a research report on the punching line. Also on Wednesday, a new type of heavy-duty transfer press using patent technologies developed by JIER was also approved by the appraisal panel. Currently all six heavy-duty transfer press punching lines in the nation are developed by JIER. The new press is three times more efficient than traditional ones and can save 50 percent in energy and 40 percent in space. The two new items of equipment are utilized by domestic heavyweights such as Shanghai GM, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd, Chery Automobile Co Ltd and Chang’an Suzuki. This equipment will also be sold at markets of Americas, India and Australia, said Zhang Zhigang. We have a 70 percent domestic market share in the field of heavy-duty equipment, Zhang said. Since 2009, JIER has supplied more than 20 fully-automated production lines for domestic automobile corporations.
